I'v got a fairly low mileage 05 Q-cab, 4x2, 48RE, long bed,SLT, Cummins, Ram. If the motor is idling, or I'm driving down the road and push on the A.C. button I hear an audible clunck out front under the hood when the compressor first engages. Is this normal for these trucks? It only does it when first turning on the A.C., while the Cummins is running. After that, I don't hear any noises other than the engine sounds. The A.C. puts out good cool air, otherwise.waytogo
It is not the clutch kicking on that makes a tick type of noise not a thunk. Its the damper in your condenser box moving.Don't worry its normal.
Yup, normal. My 03 did it, my 06 does it. I'tll do it in the winter too when you first turn on the defroster. Easiest way to not worry about it - just imagine that it does that so you know its working.rotfl
