:doah: I was hoping I would avoid this until closer to the end of the warranty. It seams a lot of guys have trouble with the VP-44 around 60,000, and mine is very near that. To add insult to injury, it was towed off by a Ford today.

That code is the injection timing failure that is soo common on the 24 valve Diesels with the VP-44 pump. My transfer pump had some instances of low pressure, but I did not think it was enough to kill the injection pump. I guess it does not take much.

Tough luck. Were you able to check the fuel supply from the lift pump on your fuel pressure gauge? It may have contributed to the early death of the VP-44.

I've noticed it doesn't matter how many miles you have, I have heard of them going at as low as 10K, and heard some guys that didn't even know there was a problem with the Bosch pumps that are in the 250K range.

I you have an ETH pump, I've notice the ETH (H.0.) models seem to be even more problematic than the ETC pumps. My dad is having problems with his ETH pump too. Still runs fine, just dead pedal every once and a while.

    3rd gen. trucks

The 3rd gen trucks have the high pressure rail which uses a different setup (pump, injectors, rail, etc. I have not heard of any problems with these. They also put the transfer pump where it belongs, in the fuel tank. A pusher pump should push fuel, not pull it from the tank like mine does.
