Here is some info that is promissing. Not for heavy duty, but, for applications that could really stand a fresh engine. I'd trade my HEMI for a V Cummins in my Durango. Its about time they went public with this. There has been a Ram 1500 running around for over a year with a small displacement (like 5.2 ish) V* cummins diesel in it. I read something about it at the San Dieago Auto Show. Some one from TDR got to drive the thing or something like that. Said it was pretty peppy too. Cummins and an Undisclosed Auto Manufacturer serving north america. . . . . Yeah, like no one will figure that one out!
i think dodge and ford are running a race on this. they are looking at the v6 already out to go in the 150 i miss the days of halftons with oil burners in em. I would buy it for a grocery getter
Here's some more info on the light duty diesel. This article indicates the production is for DC and its vehicles. http://yahoo.reuters.com/news/articlehybrid.aspx?storyID=urn:newsml:reuters.com:20061011:MTFH65119_2006-10-11_14-38-28_N11405229&type=comktNews&rpc=44 Like to have one in my Durango. Keep the hemi for a race car. Dave
Think Ford won the race to get a new V6 diesel engine out. You can currently get a 4.5L (International VT 275) in Ford medium duty trucks and from what I hear will shortly be available in p/u's. I would love to see Dodge come out with a V6 Cummins though.
A post at DTR indicates that "Deisel Power Mag" has said the Durango will get a V-6 Cummins rated at 270hp/420ft/lbs and the 1/2 ton trucks will get a V-8?? rated at 325hp/500ft/lbs. I'd sure like to through that hemi out of my Durango for one of them v-6's. Dave
