Last night on the way home from work there was a viper in the lane next to me on the freeway.I mest with him some on the freeway but there was to much traffic. But when i got off at my exit the viper did to we both made a right and the first light we came to was red.The guy in the viper ask me if I thought I could beat his viper with a ''Work Truck''.I laughed and told him lets find out.The light turned green and we were off through 1st & 2nd the viper was in front of me but after that it was all over for him.At about a 100 mph I sut it down.At the next light the guy in the viper ask if I wanted to trade my truck for his viper. That was the fist time I ran the truck in level 5 it ran gooooood. The highest level I have ever used before was 3 and I ran in the 13 at the track.Just thought you all would like my story.rotfl

Something is fishy there!! Most model year Vipers have a good enough power to weight ratio to send them into the 11's in the 1/4 mile. Not to stir the pot :)stir: ), but I doubt your truck has the power to dip into the 11's.....out of curiousity, have you been to the track? Any dyno #'s?

I suppose it is possible if the dude in the Viper had no idea how to shift it, or had a tennis ball under the gas pedal? I don't doubt you won, but I kinda doubt if the Viper was giving it all it had...

I did make some passes at the track. The best pass I had on the 1/4 mile was 13.22 at 104.3.Levle 3 on th edge and no propane about 75 to 80 degrees and 20 percent humidity. The night I ran the viper I used the propane and level 5 on the edge that I sent back to edge and had then reprogram it to the hot edge.No dyno run yet but guessing 600+ hp & 1000+ trq.

I also have a 94 viper and I have been drag racing for the last 15 years so I know how to drive and never ran faster than a 12.47 with the viper. I have a 78 Chevy short box p/u that runs low 9's with a wild small block and a lot of NOS.My boat is a 26 foot hallet it runs 126 mph on gps it has a 900 sc merlin big block with a 14-71 blower making 1400+ hp.So when I wrote the story about racing the viper I thought you all would get a laugh out of a diesel truck beating a sports car not me getting questioned.I think I know how to make some thing fast and have the means to do it with.

Thats awesome!! I love hearing stories about "sports cars" getting their rear end handed to them by "work trucks" that weigh 3times as much. I cant beat too many cars with my truck but I can sure cover them in smoke!!!waytogo

I typically run 12.6 at the track, and beat Vipers all the time. They must be very driver sensitive......

    Point taken,

Most Vipers I see run at the track are not the earliest generation RT10......I have gotten so accustomed to seeing some of the later model stock Vipers routinely dip into the 11's that I guess I was expecting them all to be like that! Regardless of hp, it was a good kill either way!;)

Yeah, those cars are driver sensitive.....it takes a compotent driver to get a GTS into the mid 11's....your average rich kid punk probably won't be able to do it!rotfl

If that rich kid pun was directed at me your very wrong.I am 35 worked my a$$ off and made my business successful. No body gave me a thing. If you think you can make any of my vehicles faster by just your driving skills I'll fly you to AZ and let you have at it.I am at the track just about every week and rarely see a stock viper of any year dip into the 11's.

Oh, for Pete's sake! That comment was NOT directed at you! I simply stated my experience with some of these rich punk kids around here with daddy's car at the track. I'm not trying to show you any disrespect here!

BUT, I will take you up on your offer for a free trip to AZ to race your fleet!:D I'm not saying I could do better (probably couldn't), but I'm sure I would have fun trying!

The weather sucks here right now and I'm up for a vacation in a warm sunny place!

I always thought Vipers ran in the 13's or so, maybe in the high 12's.

I'm glad to hear you beat the guy, the car is a good car to beat no doubt, but beating the GUY that thinks a 1 ton dually diesel must be a clanky, can't get out of it's own way work truc,k had to be the best reward.:pimp:

Its always great to beat any car. Even better when the other guy thinks a diesel is nothing but a work dog and they have no clue what our oil burners are capable of.
