Do you feel like you need more juice under the hood. I have only been driving the '99 3/4 ton BBC Suburban for less than a year and I already feel like I need much more. I think I am definately going diesel next time.

Maybe I just have a complex and/or trying to compensate for something:D

My dream: Brand new 3/4 ton Sub with a Duramax, is GM ever going to put a diesel in a Sub again?

Supposedly, the D-max will be available in both the vans, H2, and 3/4 ton Sub's in the near future. Ive heard 2006.

That mirage has been looming since around 2002 or so. And like any other mirage, as you get closer, it just keeps moving along, just out of reach. From what I recall, the reason it never happens is that they can't produce the required components fast enough to satisfy existing demand in the trucks. If it's all they can do to get the trucks out, why make the problem worse? And if the projected increase in sales and profits don't offset the cost of expansion/retooling, why bother? There is also the body problem with clearing the Allison and the required changes to the frame that run up the "costs" and hurt the bottom line. Not as easy as just dropping in a 6.2/6.5.

Yes, but, they just upped production of the 6.6's by quite a bit, the exact number is escaping me right now, and the same mirage of them putting the Duramax into H1's just happened. You can right now buy the H1 Alpha with the D-max/Alison at the dealer, H2 is next.

Im just telling you what i was told.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing. I'm just stating what I've seen happen several times in the past few years. Several "reliable" sources have reported the pending availability of the DMax in other vehicles for years, but nothing ever materialized. Actually, I'm very glad to hear that the mirage is starting to become real (or at least it sounds like it may)...

I know what you mean, ive heard the same thing over and over again as well, and been dissapointed every time. Ford has the hold on vans and the HD fullsize SUV markets, it would be nice to have some competition. I think a D-max 'Burb would be awesome, and progress seems to be being made. Im still leary of getting my hopes up, but it finally seems like it might happen, at least i sure hope it does. If they put it in the H1 and H2 and stop there, im gonna be pissed.

Id love to have a 1-ton, D-max Quigley conversion van:pimp:
