dont wanna blow my tranny

    well i finialy broke down and ordered some performance parts for my ctd i got the bully dog triple dog downloader/w outlook,a s&b intake and a muffler delete pipe...what i want to know is what is a safe power level for a stock tranny?:confused:

    "normally" around 60 additonal HP is safe, anything more and your pushing it so to speak. Notice I put quotes around normally. lol

    The triple dog is lethal in the extreme and crazy larry setting so if you dont want to blow it up dont go above the performance setting. I leave mine in the tow setting unless i get someone on the highway who wants to play and we are already cruising pretty good. Trust me im on my 4th stock tranny in 50k , gotta love warranties.

    Just make sure you have some way to avoid high throttle during shifts or torque converter lockup. Also, no power-braking.

    60hp should be safe, I went 80hp and while towing, started to slip the converter.

    Towing keep her to a max of 65hp. Unloaded you can play with 100hp, but above that you are on borrowed time. A valve body upgrade or Transgo shift kit will help you handle a bit more, but nothing drastic.
