Well I have a 2001 ram 2500 CTD with 50K on the ticker. Just curious what you guys think of putting an EZ in it. I got it for towing and a little bit more power. I have no tranny problems at the moment and i have trans temp, boost and pyro gauge. If I keep my right foot inline will the stock auto be okay until the spring when it gets a complete DTT replacment?
    Thanks

I'd say so. I've heard people say the 47RE can stand an EZ, but thats about it. If it was me I wouldn't care anyway if a DTT trans was coming in the near future.

    EZ with a stock trans

I fried my stock trans last summer and I was running with an EZ, 4" exhaust and a K&N air box. The best I can figure, it didn't have anything to do with the EZ. I was pulling 10-12K lbs most of the time. With a 3:55 gear, I was pulling in O/D and I expected the trans to downshift when it needed to. That didn't happen, I should have slowed down and used 3rd gear more often.
I also just found that after having the trans rebuilt for HD towing and putting in a good converter, my converter wasn't locking up due to a computer malfunction. I think this problem was there last year with the stock converter. My trans rebuilder just found the problem in a tsb and my PCM was reprogramed to correct the problem (24v, automatics, built Jan.1, 1998 to Dec.18, 1998).
Bottom line, if I knew then what I know now, I think, I might still be driving with the stock trans.

I ran mine for about 8 months (stock tranny and EZ) - it definitely pushes the tranny to the limit. Had a fair amount of shuddering at times under power and when towing a tent trailer. If you're careful and have a DTT on the horizon, I'd say go for it.

If you have a full DTT tranny on the way, I would suggest that you skip the EZ and go right to the Comp - you won't regret it.....for not much more money there is a much larger power gain and much more adjustability. If you are worried about making the stock tranny last until spring, don't tap the pump wire on the Comp.....this way it will run in EZ mode and give only a similar power increase as the EZ, though, the power levels will not be adjustable but the sub levels will be without the wire tap.
