:stir: Hey guys just me again, did all the changes you mentioned and am still a little concerned on my egt. I pulled a 28 ft toy hauler back from portland the other day and my temps were at 1000 at 62 mph on fairly flat ground in 6th gear at 70 degrees ambient temp outside. when I shifted to 5th I was able to drop them to 800-900 but had to slow to 55 mph to keep the tach around 2000-2100 rpms.I do have 4in exhaust and k&n filter and it didn't matter if I had my 5 level edge box on or off. the dry wt of the trailer is about 7400 lbs. maybe I'm, a worry wart but that still seems hot to me. when I hit the hills it was real easy to peak 1300 degrees if I wanted, love having the power but would like to use it without burning things up. your advice has been very helpful and thanks in advance for any help or advice you might have:stir: opcorn:
Sounds like you have an H.O. truck. 1000 degrees sounds about right with that much weight and a Comp box. I've noticed that HO's seem to run just a shade warmer than SO's. My dad's HO runs in the 800-900 range with a 27ft enclosed sled trailer and he has stock exhaust and 65HP EDM's. Your 28ft RV trailer probably weighs in the 10K(?) range. Sounds fine to me.
re egt thanks guys, I guess 1000 degrees is ok. would you reccomend staying at that temp very long or not. I can down shift obviously but the mileage is better in 6th. Also you made my son's day he owns a 04 dodge diesel and told me to shut and drive it and quit worrying.... KIDS ?
