I have the wires running into my hitch in the rear of my 2500 but no power going to it. I was told that it was a power (hot) wire at all times, is this true? I checked it with a light tester and it did not work. My main reason for it was to try and find a constant hot wire for the dome light in my bed cap. On the wire loom it says the red wire is a battery wire, thought that was the electric brake wire also. Either way is there a constant hot wire at the rear of my truck? Any help would be great thanks.

    Is the fuse in?

Check your manual, but you may have to install the fuse that supplies power back there. I didn't have to on my 03 but I know others who did. Seems to be one of those hit and miss items from the factory.

I was told that I need to install the fuse. I just cant find where it goes. I checked the owners manual and didnt see anything. I looked through both fuse boxes but found nothing that would be the brakes or aux power. Thanks for the help.

there was a mega fuse under the hood of my brothers 2001 Tahoe that had to be installed for the constant hot to be active. check in there again for the fuse. I belive it is in one of the top corners and powers the post with wires attached. Check the owners manual as well for more info.
