Looks like there is a good chance that Dodge will join GM with employee pricing, wonder if that is just for 05's and not 06?
I worked at a dealer (in parts) for almost 10 years and I can assure you this is just another great ad campaign. In most cases, employee cost isn't any better than a walk in customer could do with a hot salesman on the last day of the month. I've seen several times where a customer can get a vehicle cheaper than an employee.
Don't get me wrong, I think his program would work well for the customer on a niche vehicle that dealers would be less lkely to deal on. I haven't checked but I assume this applies to certain vehicles only. If it goes for diesels and/or duallies and such I could see where this would be good for us. I just have my doubts as to how this might help the average couple looking for a Cavalier, etc..
I called my local GM delear because someone told us they had just bought a CC short bed Dmax 4wd for 33k,loaded. They told me the special prices was on vehicles on the lot only and that he had no duallies, and especially no duallies that had a 6spd. The salesman said they don't even put manuals behind the dmax anymore, which is fine with me but my dad likes manuals. Regardless, he said a loaded 4x4 dually Dmax was still 41K, still too much anyway.
Only if it had the power moon roof and rear seat DVD. Go to chevy or GMC's web page, then to build your own and load up a truck with options. Then hit the employee price button. On D-Max trucks they're running 10k to 11k under MSRP.
Thats a pretty good deal man.. I still think this employee pricing is a gimmick... I bought my truck a year ago, for 33.5k when the sticker was 46k... Its all about who you talk to.. The fleet dept. is your friend. Scott
For the average Joe the promo gets them a decent price without all the haggling. Most people would rather have a root canal then deal with car salesmen. For them this promo is a win.
Not my father in law. The man haggles like an arab trader, and he loves it. It's amazing how far down he can talk a salesman.
Its simple.. Don't deal with the salesman.. walk into the dealer, and ask where the fleet dept. is. Walk in, tell them you want to buy a truck. When I walked in, and told the guy in fleet I wanted to buy a truck, he asked exactly what I wanted, gave me the dealer invoice to look over... I got the price that was on the paper minus discounts that were offered at the time, and I walked out the door for 33.5k on a 46k truck... all with no haggling, and NO talking to a salesman. Scott
