My '03 F-350 7.3L Makes a sharp thump noise in the front right corner right after almost every start. I have no idea what could be causing this. Any ideas??
First off, Welcome to the site. we are probably the friendliest site going!waytogo Now, as for the thump noise. Do you notice it every time you take off (ie, stop signs)? Its possible your battery is moving around or maybe its the ball joints or u joints. Or sway bar/trac bar, if your bushings are loose even a bit, your leaf springs will shift to the side and contact your shackles/perches. . Make sure your hubs are locked. try to decribe that noise in more detail. Does it do it even when stopping, etc... hope that helps a lilwaytogo
Thank-you for replying! I really can't explain it with much more detail. It just sounds like a loud thud a couple secs after I start. The truck isn't moving and not in gear, so it isn't anything caused by motion, and it doesn't happen every time. Doesn't seem to matter whether the engine is hot or cold, either. This is off the subject, but how do I change my user name and truck type? As you can tell, I don't have a "half ton"!
The title under your username is based on your post count, as you post more your title will change. Is your truck an auto?
Yep, thats exactly what it is. Nothing to woory about though. Its the air lock thingie (i dont know the actual name) opening and closing. Most fords, if not all do it, mostly in the colder seasons.
