I just put a bullydog triple pup downloader in my truck and i run it at about 80 to 100 hp boost

whats the best exhaust to go with i was thinking a 5" turbo back but thats pretty pricey....does anyone else have any imput as to which company i should use, if 5" is necessary, or how much difference a cat back and a turbo back makes?

The truck is a 2006 2500 Megacab with the 5.9L

turbo back or cut the cat and muffler out...there is lots of exhaust companys just pick one they all do the same thing....i cut the cat and muff out and replaced the muff with a aeroturbine with built in resonator....i think a magnaflow muff would have sounded better......

Well, stock you already have 4" pipes. Just swap out the stock muffler for a direct fit one from Diamond eye, Magnaflow, or MBRP and ditch the cat. You'll be dialed for about half the price of the 5"

straight pipes dont really excite me.....i dont want this truck to be a whole hell of a lot louder than it already is.......would it be better to straight pipe it then to say add a cat back 4" kit from banks?

well if you go with a turbo back exhaust its the same thing as straight pipe....turbo backs eliminate the cat same as sraight pipe....now cat back like the banks is just half the exhaust still keeping the cat....you get more flow by removeing the cat and lots more noise....sounds like you want a mild upgrade in exhaust then just go with cat back system from banks or what i did origanlly the aero turbine kit that just replaces a section of your exhaust....looks factory with a nice exhaust note...then i wanted louder so i cut the cat out and kept the aero muffler...its loud under load almost like a glass pack....the best thing to do is try one and if you dont like it try something else part of owning a diesel truck...

    ok one last question

on this truck how loud are straights gonna be

i mean i had straights on my last truck but this is a nice ass truck and i dont really want to have it loud as hell but i want the performance at half the price like the straights do

if it isnt insanely loud like straights on a gas truck are i think i might just cut out the cat and the muffler and get a big shiny tip 8-D

it sounds good just try it....if you dont like it replace the system with something else, you will end up spending $$$ somewhere so spend on something you like, like your truck..just my 2 cents....

I put in the 5" monster exhaust with the muffler and at idle it sounds no diff. but under a good load (10,000lbs) it gets a little loud the whole system turbo back was under $400 to my door took about 2 hours to put in.

It takes a little longer for the turbo to spool up but other than that no. I got it from RPM outlet and it is the Moto Blue Monster Exhaust (the off-road version) no need for the cat here in Washington state! Just wish I was not in North Dakota right now.

Strait piped my 06 the other day, Im a fan of 4" and the way it sounds. Beside im not running anywhere near enough horsepower to justify 5" Aluminized pipe is 15 bucks a foot these days. OUCH! Love the sound though. Louder than I thought it would be but it sure sounds mean.
