    gentlemen:
have an "06" 3500 quad cab short bed cummins big horn with tow package. discovered that i have no running/parking lights on my trailers. borrowed a trailer from someone else and discovered same problem. no bad fuses. is there someone else out there who has had a similar issue and is there a quick fix for this or should i take it to the dealer?? i'd rather fix it myself as the dealers around here have mediocre to bad service dept.'s at best. it should be a warranty item shouldn't it?? i should add that everything else works fine.

Could be your TIPM as well, but that will be a dealer fix.

    Tipm?

whats a TIPM? also, how much did all those goodies set you back?? any details and/or advice on adding those, whether having them installed or doing it yourself, would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

TIPM = Total Integrated Power Module. It runs lots of the electrical stuff on 06/07 trucks. It can sense shorts and shut down circuits etc, but then needs to be reset at the dealer if it does it too many times. Goodies on my truck set me back some money alright but I've never totalled it up. I install most everything myself. If there are some things in particular you are interested in, ask away.waytogo

okay first off, how much is a good price for the jake brake and is it something that someone like me with basic mechanical skills can install? i have an automatic and think that this is something i want.
i don't really care one way or the other about the remote start although i would have liked keyless entry.
what is the by-pass filter's function?
is there a reason to add a fuel tank vent kit? i would, in the future like to install an auxiallary fuel tank from transfer flow and would this have an affect on that?
i had air bags on my last truck and will definitely be getting them also. as fars as the intake, i was leaning towards AFE, but am open to suggestions.
    what is an Espar D5?
i am also not familiar with a nelson muffler. is this something you added for performance?
is the outlook monitor a chip for increasing hp and/ or mileage?

Jake brake prices are all over the map but I understand you can get them on ebay for 700-800 dollars. It is something you can install with basic skills as long as you are not afraid to install pins on the ECM connector (no big deal). It is a great addition if you tow.

It filters a portion of the oil to much finer specs than the full flow filter does. So it takes about 15 minutes to filter all of the oil in the ctd. About 200+ dollars for the kit from amsoil. Real easy to install.

The fuel tank vent kit allows you to fuel the tank to the top quickly. If you like to fill the tank without the vent kit it takes 10 minutes or more to trickle the fuel in. It should have no effect on your aux. tank.

I don't have much to offer for suggestions. I bought the airraid because the guy here stocked them.

It is a coolant heater that runs on diesel fuel. Learn more at http://www.espar.com

It is a 51" muffler that is straight through 4". I put it on to retain the stock quiet sound but improve flow to lower EGT's while towing.

It is simply a digital guage. If you use it with a bully dog downloader it will change the performance settings.

    Hope this helps.

thanks for the info. so far have only had time to get the afe stage two installed and bought a bully dog power pup programmer. got a tekonsha prodigy brake controller for my truck/toy hauler brakes and will try it out this weekend. air bags next, then brake upgrade and jake brake. both money and time at issue. mileage at least starting to increase. getting 19.96 mpg empty. 11.5 loaded at 70mph. (26ft. attitude w/2 quads)

The last I have heard , Jake breaks are not available on the smaller diesels like we run in the pickup trucks. Instead they make an exhaust brake and it runs around $2500.00 plus the install unless you feel handy.
