I did my first towing with my CTD yesterday. It did pretty damn well. I figured out I will need to do a few power mods to get it to were I would like it to be but it pulled well. I flat towed my 85 K5 Blazer (offroad truck 5500-6000lbs) about 200 miles on flat ground and threw some good hills. One flat ground I had no problems maintaining highway speed at all and had power to spare. In the hills it would pull the speed limit (50mphish) but it didn't have any power to spare on the heavier hills. I went up and down a few grades from 5-7%. The truck did well stopping the load too. I never had to ride the brakes heavily, but I now understand why guys use exhaust brakes. Even when I downshifted to 3rd (manual 5spd) on the big downhills the weight of the truck would try and speed me up headed down the hill so I had to apply light brakes to scrub a little speed.

So now I know that I need to start looking into some power mods and posibbly and exhaust brake. So I think sometime in the future I am going to look into a few mods. Probably a Smarty, BHAF, and a 4" exhaust.

Smarty or an Edge EZ is a great start. AN intake rather than a home made air filter would be best, and a good 4" or 5" exhaust would be a great finish. That would pull pretty good. Wanna really pull? Order the edge comp or new edge Juice/attitude combo and get the extra power and adjustable capability.
