So being as fuel is as high as $4.65-$4.77 (southern Mississippi). I was wondering what kind of milage that every one is getting. WIth my set up on on truck, running down the highway with an empty load, keeping the revs at about 2000 i get about 18MPG my best was 18.9MPG. This is with my juice set one 1 (milage) and just crusin. My truck does has 3.54 in it so that helps. I do the math by everytime resetting the tripometer and filliling the tank to the top. then when im on 1/4 i fill up to the top, and divide the gallons into the milage. Hence the 18MPG. The mistake people make when telling people about the milage is they use the display on the top of their truck. most people dont know that if you hook up the juice it will take and say you getting more than what you are. the higher you trun it up the more kilage it says you get. Think about it how is you milage gonna up if you pusing more fuel into the motor? The other mistake is not having their speedo corrected for usually bigger tires. If you speedo is off you CANNOT get the corret fuel economy. it doesnt make you speedo off 1 mph or 5mph. its a ratio so the faster you go the more it is off. With the cummins motors RPMS is the way to go with your motor to get the best fuel economy. So keep you foot out of it
I average 20mpg running down the interstate at 70mph. That's hand cal and adjusted with a gps. I have tried slowing down to 60mph and the mpg didn't change. Now Im driving a 98' pontiac grand am and getting 35mpg on my 120 mile (round trip) commute to work. The truck is for weekend duties, and will see mostly towing now.
I average around 18 mpg with a mix of city and highway. I got up to 23.3 on an all highway 150 mile trip. All hand calculated...
Going down to Vegas for the May Madness event I was just under 21 with my 06, doing 65 behind my buddy pulling my trailer. Coming home I was right around 19, but I was also doing about 75-80 most of the trip. The 35's really help knock the RPMs down and help mileage on the freeway, but kill it in town. Around town I drive my 91 parts runner. Does pretty darned good, but no numbers are the odo is inop!rotfl
You really get better mileage with the chip turned up huh? Where do you have your low boost fuel adjustment set at?
are you hand calculating it or using the dodge fuel estimator? the edge chip throws the dodge fuel estimator off...... makes you look like you makin milage, until you do the math......
You have to basically forget the overhead mileage calculator unless the truck is bone stock. I'm getting 13-16 with my usuall driving. Plenty of towing, in town, country roads, and lots of idling.
I am getting 23-23.5 empty at 70MPH. I get around 18-19 towing the jetsled and I got 16 flat towing 16.5K up to Canada this year. Dave
