fuel pumps 24v cummins

    do i have to remove in tank fuel pump to use an after market external fuel pump? dealer installed intank pump. 9psi at idle 5psi at wol. dealer states fuel volume is fine.I have a BD low pressure lite at injection pump and a Autometer guage at intake side of fuel filter.

    I guess it depends on the manufacturer of the new pump.

    Here is a Note from my FASS installation manual.

    Note: If the truck has had the retrofitted in-tank pump installed, usually installed
    by a Dodge Dealer after a fuel lift pump failure, a separate suction tube will
    need to be installed in the fuel tank. This retrofit will not allow fuel to be drawn
    through! The part number for the suction tube is a STK-1001 and is available
    through your Authorized FASS Dealer.

    your lift pump is on the way out... as far as i know, you are supposed to have about 15 coming out of your lift pump at idle.

    With that fuel pressure, the pump is dieing, do something ASAP!
