Are they really that bad? I am looking into picking up a first gen 91-93 with a 5 speed to swap into my 83 chevy crewcab. I want to stay away from the auto trans since you never know how long they are going to last.
I have a G360 in my First gen Dodge. The G360 have a bad rep due to their oiling issues, causing the main bearings to not get enough lube. I would not be discourage to run it though. The simple fix is to overfill the tranny by 1.5 quarts, this helps it get the lube it needs and elminates all problems. I have read that the G360 is as strong if not stronger than the nv4500 and is limited to 300 hp only because the stock clutch can not handle any more.
