This probably seems like a "duh" question, but I have never greased my gooseneck ball because I never heard that you need to. Does anybody grease theirs? I have a 49' Gooseneck flatbed with a combined gvw of 36,000 lbs.
Lucas 5th wheel plate grease, comes in a handy bottle just put a few drops on the ball before you hook up.
Wow this is news to me. Never greased any of my goosenck balls. Seems I am going to start. Sucks when I have to flip it and get my hands all greasy.
I keep rags and or paper towels in the truck just for that reason. Wipe the ball off before flipping it. I will drop the trailer off at the yard and then drive home with the ball still up. Get out, wipe it off and throw it away in the outside trash can. Only thing that sucks is getting back into the truck a second time to wipe it down and flip it. LT.
If you are not going to flip it use heavy duty alluminum foil it keeps crud off of it waytogo might even work if it is flipped too? nevertried it
i have cut a ribbed 20 oz. water bottle in half. keep the side with the cap. fits great and wont come off. its not to tight that it takes the grease with it.
