My heated seats function quit working in my '01 Ram. I checked the fuses about a month ago and if I remember correctly I had no seat fuse, or it wasn't burnt. I do remember that the fuse idea didn't work. I had checked the fuse box next to the battery under the hood. Is there another fuse box for accessories like this some place else? It just seems to me that it's electrical since both seats stopped working and each seat has two heating pads in it.

Let me know what you think, thanks.waytogo

The other fuse box is inside the cab on the drivers side. With the door open you'll see the small access hatch on the side of the dash.

No luck on finding a fuse for it in the 2nd fuse panel. Any other ideas? The heated seats MUST have some sort of fuse or circuit breaker....is it an inline? Any ideas?

That fuse has got to be there somewhere! Sounds like a fuse to me!

Yes I'm in Modesto. It gets much colder than 50-60 degrees, which is the range I start using them. I don't think there is any place in the world where it would be too warm to use that feature during winter. I hate freezing my butt off waiting for the truck to warm up in the morning.

You guys that are in mountain regions with lower temperature have dry air. Down here in the california valley it gets cold on a 40* day with a fog that just hangs in the air all day long. With that, I usually walk around in a t-shirt when we go snowmobiling after getting out of the pickup in 25* temps, the dry cold doesn't bite like the sticky valley air.

Anyway, I pulled the dash apart and found that I have a power at the switches and what appears to be power back out of them too. I am just going to take it to the dealership when I have the money to do it.

That's why I don't care for leather. Cold in the winter and burn your ass in the summer.

It all depends on the sun for me, On a 65* day with no clouds I have ran the A/C. On another 65* day with a storm brewing, the wind blowing outside, and nothing but grey in the sky, I've got the heat on. All depends on the Sun when your sitting in a glass bubble.:D

I am constantly riding around with the seat heaters and the AC on in the summer. When I get off from work after 12 hours it feels really good on my back. I just wish I could control the pads seperately.

Hey did you ever get your seat issue figured out? My wife just told me this morning that the drivers side seat heat switch started blinking when she turned it on...never did warm up. She put it on low and it went back up to high and blinked...Any ideas?? I cant look at it for a couple days...

Nope, never figured it out. I plan on taking it to the dealer this fall when the weather starts turning cold again.

Pull the lower seat cusion out of the truck after unplugging the electrical connecter. Then, pull off the seat cover. This is done my simply pulling the cover off from around the seat base. Once you have the cusion off this will make sense. Mor than likely you will find a broken wire in the seat cusion is the cause of your problem. Just solder it back together. This is actually a common problem on that model truck. Fixed one of my customers seats twice now. Hope this helps.

BTW - the wires are very small, like 24 ga and smaller.

Well, I now know why I could never seem to figure out my heated seat problem, and why I was so confused that how I had power at the switches and at the seats but no lights would come on the buttons.

Like I said, I took it to the dealer....the verdict....
The heated seat module is completely missing. Its the brain for the system, and is what makes the lights come on, regulate temperature in the seats, and send the blinking light when they eventually break. I've been calling recking yards yesterday and will today. Why didn't I notice it missing you say? Because it's about the size of an infants shoe and sits under the middle cushion. I never thought to look for anything under the middle section...

I bought my truck at a basically diesel pickup only used dealership. My guess is one truck had a bad module, customer coming to look at said truck, and robbed the module out of my truck to get them working in said truck again. Just my luck.:D

They are a bit of a PITA to get at. Previous owner probobly took it out to try and find another because of a problem with it, but decided to trade it in.

    Loud and Proud:
The blinking lights are a diagnostic for the system. Generally one of the heater pads has burnt out somewhere. Just disconnect the connector for each pad and ohm them out.

    easy to fix

You will be amazed at how easy this is to fix.
Remove the 4 small bolts that hold the seat cushion in and remove, take care to unplug the electrical plugs. Be sure to unplug the lumbar adjuster that connects to the seat back. Take the seat to your local auto upholsterey shop to have the leather seat cover removed from the foam. You could do this too, but the little rings need to be snipped.
Unplug all the different "heater panels". Run a continuety test to find out which panel has a problem. The feeder wires are much larger than the "heater wires" are. Look for the burnt spot and solder the skinny wire back together. Re-test for contimuety, then do a quick check by plugging back into the truck. The light won't flash any more if you have done your repairs well. Take it back to the upholsterey shop to put the cover back on. Re-install seat with the 4 small bolts and slap yourself on the back for a job well done, and finish your beer!
