HO Pros - Higher power stock
HO Cons - Run pretty hot (egt wise) stock

SO Pros - Run cooler and can make more power with aftermarket mods than an HO
SO Cons - Less power stock, but thats easily fixed

H.O. Different turbo, the ETH VP44, smaller injectors, different programming.

S.O. Slightly smaller turbo, ETC VP44, bigger injectors than the H.O. model, different programming.

IIRC, didnt the H.O. also have a lower compression ratio?

    HO has 17:1 compression
    SO has 16.3

also, the 6 speed was a pro for the HO.

The lower compression of the SO also helps when bombing since you can run more boost than an HO without head gasket failures.
