Everything runs and drives the same, the Dealer doesn't seem to think it is very important, and I must admit with a five year bumper to bumper and free rental car I really don't either, just bothers me that the stupid light comes on with a brand new truck, I will have them look at it the next time I am in for a free oil change.
My guess is a simple faulty sensor or something.

I think that scares me more than the light!

BTW, my Chevy's light has never come on. :D:stir:

I'm willing to bet that if your light did come on and you called your dealer, they would ask you if the truck runs the same, and when you told them it did, they would tell you the same thing, we can check it out the next time you come in.

No dealer is going to say "Good God man, don't drive it at all, we will send a tow truck to pick it up" rotfl

Mine has come on twice while driving. Once for a Map Sensor and once for a Crankshaft Position Sensor. Don't want to see another one. It will be for the dreaded VP44 code. 154,000 and running strong.

I'd take it in now. Ignoring a check engine light is pointless IMO. A dealership that says "don't worry about it" eh I don't care for that idea. Most likely it is nothing, but OBDII computer systems have many failsafe setups that would allow a truck to run "fine" but not optimal because a sensor or something has failed. I'd never tell someone its alright to run around with a check engine light on unless I knew exactly what was causing it.

My DD has it on all the time, it is running rich. Eats gas, otherwise its fine, but I had no idea what it was the first time the light came one. It drove fine and the gas mileage didn't change much that I noticed before realizing it was running rich.

And no way to have multiple power levels, low boost smoke level adjustment, software that has transmission protection, no way to set an EGT ceiling, no precise compact electronic guages, and no way to have a GPS unit along with these features in one compact unit.

You have a 12v??....I'm sorry....:D :stir: (Just giving you a bad time back.;) )

Mine comes on about once a month. I have a bad battery temperature sensor and the truck reminds me once every 30 days to replace it, maybe someday I will...

Steve, have you checked your codes? Key on/off 3 times leaving it on the last time... Does it just flash real quick or does it stay on? The 03's have a TSB for a reflash of the instrument cluster for eronious instrument lights like lamp out, check engine, check gauges, etc. Haven't heard about it on 05's though.

Multiple power levels, boost smoke and EGT's are all adjusted with the right foot and there's no need for transmission protection software with a manual transmission. GPS, what's that?:D I thought that's what speedometer's were for. Bout' time someone started giving me a bad time backwaytogo rotfl .

The right foot...yeah....because that works just as well.....rotfl A manual transmission??? I'm sorry....:D And tranny protection doesn't stop with the auto on a later electronic motor....it sences clutch slip in a standard rig too.waytogo

Whats GPS? No, it's not a speedo, it's much more. Your speedo doesn't give you precise directions of how to get to an address accross the country, doesn't tell you where you could go to get around contruction, traffic, and rough roads. And it doesn't search for the nearest fuel station that carries diesel or the nearest Italian restaurant because you have a hankerin' for speggetti tonight....in a town you've never been in before.waytogo

Nothing is really needed, it's just nice to have it. I don't have GPS or a black box yet, but I hope to be able to afford the new A2 and Juice within the next 6 months.

Like I said, the GPS is great for when you are out of town trying to find your way around, getting around traffic, around construction... It's the 21st century.waytogo

You can't tell me you'd reject multiple power levels at the touch of a button if you could have it on a 12v.

Despite what most people think, it is not always a warm and sunny 85* day, every day here in California.....and I've never even seen a surfboard in person before.

Call me californian or not, it's pretty nice getting into an un garaged truck on a chilly morning with heated seats.waytogo Not to mention getting back into the truck on a cold evening with semi wet clothes from a day of playing in the powder on the snowmobiles.:D
