I need your help. Which shocks should I get?

I like to keep my tires inflated to 80-85 PSI and that creates a rough ride. My truck sees more unloaded miles than towing miles.

It's not lifted and I use it for what it was designed for, highway use and towing.

I would like to change out my shocks to get a smoother ride. Is this do-able or is it a lost cause?

    Which ones?

    Thanks,
    Windy

Why do you run your tires that high? Does it mess with your tread wear? Just curious...

I would get bilsteins... like the ones they put on the powerwagon.

I rotate my tires every spring which means approx. 10,000 miles. I have 30,000 miles on truck and tires are wearing even. About 1/2 or little more thread life left. I did the same with my previous truck and got 60,000-70,000 miles before changing and there was still plenty of thread left. I just wanted more thread for winter driving. We get alot of snow where I live.

I get around 2 MPG increase over running underinflated tires dependant on wind/cold/weather.

I also tow what's in my signature and too lazy to air down and up in between loaded and unloaded driving.

Like I said I did this on my previous 2 trucks and works fine, just a little more rough riding, it's a truck and I don't expect car smooth riding. I'am changing my shocks out and just curious if there's any thing to help improve the ride a little.

Bilsteins. They ride much better than any other shock that I have used.

I've posted this on various websites and every one seems to be consistent on Bilsteins but nobody says which ones so I'am asking, which ones.

Thanks Rob, Some others mentioned were the 5100 series but to me they look like they are for a lifted truck. Mine is not.

Yours looks like the Heavy duty shocks.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes. The 5100's are for lifted applications.

The blue and yellow ones are for stock height trucks and they sell for about $300 through 4 wheel parts.
