What is the advantages of one over the other. While you are at it could you explain Hybrids and their advantages.
This is very short and simple explanation. Split shots have a pilot injection of fuel prior to the main injection of fuel. Main purpose is to reduce emissions and engine noise. Single shots only utilize one injection event per power stroke. Hybrids use a different diameter piston, barrel & stroke inside the injector. This allows for more fuel to be injected for a given amount of high pressure oil. The name Hybrid came from the use of DT530e injector parts combined with DT444e or Powerstroke injector parts to make a hybrid injector that flowed more fuel.
Single shot injectors use less HPO than a split shot and I've heard of guys getting a little better fuel economy with the singles. I think my next mod will be a set of AC codes.
