Just wanted to let you all know that, if you were debating about purchasing an intercooler, I have had good results with the Spearco.

My reason for purchasing the intercooler was primarily to lower EGT's. The Spearco intercooler has definitely reduced my EGT's, especially when the chip is turned up.

First, just cruising down the freeway at 70, my EGT dropped about 50-100 degrees and actually drop down faster when you let off the throttle (you have to try a lot harder to keep the exhaust temps up as high they were).

More importantly, the Spearco intercooler drastically lowered EGT's while the chip is turned up. Before the intercooler, if I would get on the freeway with the chip on 5x5, the EGT would easily climb to 1300+ which is too hot for my liking. Now, under the same conditions, I cannot get the EGT up above 1250, which is a lot safer from what I understand. I could probably get it up higher but I usually get going about 85-90 mph by the time I get up to 1250 so I usually stop with that:D.

So all in all, I am very satisfied with the Spearco intercooler and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the market.

I will post some pics when I get around to it...

Post up the pics as soon as you get the chance. I have toyed with the idea as well but just could not bring myself to pay for the intercooler. They sure don't give them away!

That was what I was expecting to pay just for the intercooler. Where did you get it at? Did the place where you got it from also do the install?

Yes the guy that I ordered it through also did the install. Everything was done by John at Diesel Performance Shops in Van Nuys, CA which is right near my house.

By the way, if Jason (DieselNut) lived closer to me I would have definitely gone to him because he does better work and has lower prices... Sacramento is a bit of a far drive though :doah:

But anyways... here is a link to the Diesel Performance Shops website...

Spearco makes a nice unit. The upsides to the aftermarket intercoolers are two fold - More effective heat transfer from the charge air to ambient, but also better air flow, which allows you to do more with your turbo. I bet it might help your mileage just the slightest little bit.

    Thanks for the plug Ben!waytogo
