Sorry if this had been beaten to death, just can't find any info with the search mode. Where do I hook up the boost gauge to? Is it true that I need to drill into the intake and place a fitting on the 2005 cummin"s? Plenty of info on pyro sender unit.....I know I need to drill the exhaust manifold (pre turbo) but any specific spot. As with everything else I find a lot of opinions most say it doesn't matter as long as it is in the manifold itself and pre turbo. Now, what about the lighting issue. I am putting these machanical gauges in a dual A-pillar pod, what is the easiest and closest lighting hook-up that will work the same as the existing dash lights? I want them to light up and turn of just as the speedo and tach does. If you can answer even one of these questions I am making progress so thanks ahead of time!

    Cheers,
    Scott

Regarding the location of the pyro probe... the manual for the edge attitude monitor has you put in right in the exhaust header... so thats what I did.

Thanks, how about finding a lighting power source? I'd like to be able to dim the lights as the rest of the dash does.waytogo

On the back of your factory light switch you will find two orange wires one of those two is your dimmer wire thats were I hooked mine up to.The gauge lights go on/off And dim with the factory switch.Put you boost fitting on the back side of your intake. If you leave your exhaust manifold on when you drill the hole in it use a lot of grease to catch the shavings and then run a magnet down the hole.Hope this helps.

boost you can either drill the manifold, ill go take pictures where i did mine right now for ya, or you can buy a boos bolt from PDR. the bolt bolts up right into the manifold and looks great. i just didnt want to spend the coin.

it is cleaner this way. doesnt stand out so much and makes it a straight shot from the firewall so no kinks in the line.

i removed my intake horn and did it that way. you can drill in the area above the hose that comes from the innercooler, just be sure to remove the hose, tape it off then drill where the shavings will ALL fall out of the opening. i just think that looks ugly though

Thanks, just ordered the boos bolt. $12 and i don't have to drill plus it's kind of hidden. I wonder if there will be a differrence in boost pressures depending on where it is located? Too bad they don't make a bolt that can screw into an existing place in the exhaust manifold.......hold it, maybe I should apply for a patent on that idea;)

But then your probe would be post turbo and nearly worthless.

All right, got in the probe for the pyro. I installed it in the exhaust manifold just to the right of the collector pre-turbo, three cylinders in front, three in the rear. Used lots of grease on the bit, vaccum, and q-tips with grease to remove any filings. I run a Dr. Performance adjustable box with AFE stage II intake. On the stock setting I am running around 1200 degrees with 30lbs of boost, middle setting (75hp, 150fpt) 1375 degrees, 36lbs of boost. On the highest setting (150hp,300fpt) I'm only hitting 1350 degrees but getting 37-38 lbs of boost. Now all this is not sustained numbers but when accellorating from a roll to about 70mph. These are mechanical gauges and trying to watch a needle hit the max point with wheels wanting to spin can be a little difficult. Anyone know what temp is safe? I've read on TDR that these 05 cummins can handle 1300 degrees all day long????? Any how gauges look pretty cool on the a-pillar and the lighting and wiring issues went pretty smoothly with all your help, Thanks,
