first off the pickup has 143000 on it. I just change my fule filter less than 2000 miles ago. The problem is when its idling the rpm needle moves about 50 or so rpm. :doah: any feed back would b great

Could be, when mine was out I noticed some erratic RPM's. I couldn't really tell at idle, but when you first start the truck it sounded like it would barely fire, where a lift pump that works will make the motor jump a little in RPM as it fires alive.

I really noticed the wierd RPM fluctuation at WOT.

The factory lift pumps have an un justified wrap for a stockish truck IMHO. Some pumps do indeed go out after 20K, but most last 75K+. A factory lift pump can easily flow enough fuel to support the VP44 at 350HP.

The FASS setup is the cats meow, and has a better filtering setup.

I don't know if it is the fuel pressure that is causing you problems or not. I've got a Walbro pump on mine from Glacier Diesel. I've heard nothing but good things about them and I am satisfied so far. Thier are several options from replacement pumps like those mentioned and the rasp that is a mechanical, but it's pricey, to setups that use two pumps.

If the previous owner was telling the truth my first pump lasted about 20K and the new and improved stock replacement lasted 8K:doah:. So I put the Walbro on. Wasn't any way I was goin to pay for another stock one.
