How people with Chevy's say "I have a Chevy", people with GMCs say "I have a GMC", people with Fords say "I have a Ford", but people with Dodges say "I have a Cummins"?

Are Dodge owners embarrased? are you afraid that someone might think that you have a Dodge with a *gasp* gas engine? I don't think I've ever heard someone say "I have a Powerstroke" or "I have a Duramax". Maybe it's because the Cummins name is more recognizable or something, but I find the whole thing real odd.

For the record, people that call it a "Cummings" need to be beat.

I usually call it a Durasmack, just because my Chevy/GMC drivin' friend calls it that.

Powerstroke, I call it the PSD quite often.

Cummins reigns man. I wouldn't care if they put a Cummins in a Fiat......I would still want to look at it, at least.

We're not embarassed to have a Dodge, just happy to have something so recognized as a Cummins in our rigs.

I always wonder the same thing. Personally i think people who refer to their dodge as just a Cummins are morons, they sound like retards. Same goes for the P-stroke and Duramax guys, but i dont hear it anywhere near as much as the Cummins guys. It's as if they dont want people to think that they are still driving a light duty pickup truck.

Because we're not, more correctly, it's a, "Light duty truck" or "Heavy duty pickup truck."

I find a ton of people go "Ewww you bought a dodge?" when I tell them I did... Dodges 02 and down trucks were pos trucks as far as the truck itself, we have a 99 so I know from experience. But all those people that say that take it all back when they see my truck and ride in it. Daimler got there act together in the 3G's. I always say I have a Dodge CTD.

Fi you had the best engine available in a LD pickup you'd say Cummins too.:p I'm not ashamed that it's a dodge at all, I think it's a nicer truck all around than the "other" two.

Obviously we disagree here. I test drove an '03 too and you can keep that interior and seating.....and the new body style...and that quiet cummins BS....and.....:D

I couldn't agree more. Those 94-02 trucks are horrible. How anyone can own one with a gas engine really is beyond me. If not for the Cummins engine, those trucks would fail to exist in my mind.

I've only driven two 3rd gen Dodges, but it was like a night and day difference man. I'll post up some pics of my interior when I get my truck and you can see for yourself.

Because they don't. The Duramax is manufactured by a company called Dmax, Inc. in Ohio.

The Duramax is not and has never been Isuzu. Engineers from Isuzu helped the GM engineers design it, but GM owns 1/2 of Isuzu anyway., and DMAX, Inc. is owned by both GM and Isuzu.

I've riden in one hemi 1/2 and have driven another hemi 1/2. I've driven a cummins 6spd '03 most importantly. You don't need to send any pictures, Ive seen the 3rd gen interior for my own eyes obviously and I see nothing special about their interior besides maybe the white guages that would match a nice triplet set of AM Phantoms on the A-pillar. I still prefer the seats and dash in my '01. I couldn't hardly tell a difference in the ride at all except that the '03 wandered slightly less than my '01, but with a Luke's Link on a 2nd gen track bar you'd never know the difference anyway.

Tim that isnt even close anymore. GM, at one time, owned 49% of Isuzu. In 1998 when DMAX, Ltd was formed, GM owned 37.5%. Now, GM is down to 9.9% ownership of Isuzu. The only reason GM now owns the controlling portion of DMAX, Ltd is because in 2002 when Isuzu's profits were falling, GM sold off 4% of Isuzu and took up the controlling portion of DMAX. Until that point it was 60% owned by Isuzu. Isuzu designed it, and it was built in the US under Isuzu's control.

Taken from the Duramax website under the Why Isuzu section:
Nope, theres nothing Isuzu about it:rolleyes:

As far as the information I had, what I stated was accurate.

I used to email back and forth with a few design engineers at Isuzu while it was on paper and got quite a bit of information back before HP/torque numbers were even available to the public.

Either way, we're talking about a product that is made in America and was designed via a JOINT VENTURE with a foreign company, not a foreign manufactured or even a 100% foreign designed product.

Seeing as how you drive Toyotas without feeling bad about it at all, I can't see how you even care. Myself, I can't stand that stuff as you know already, and the less, "Rice" it is, the better it looks in my opinion.

That said, it doesn't matter to me because I wouldn't own a heavy duty pickup with IFS.
