Just installed a K&N high flow air filter on my 07 6.7, It seems to be doing it"s job, haven't noticed any difference yet. Would like to modify the box to cold air but don't know how or where to get parts, can anyone tell me how to do it and where to get what I need to modify the box. Aprox. how much does it cost to do the modification? Thanks, Hank
Hold that K&N up to a light bulb and see if you can see through it. Many oiled air filters do not filter well enough for these high CFM demand engines. You'll have high silicon (sand) in your oil if you do oil analysis due to that filter. Many guys have learned the hard way that oiled air filters don't hold up as advertised. I'd recommend running a dry filter like an AMSOIL Nanofiber or AEM's dry filter. Your engine is pretty expensive to rebuild from a poor filter. -Chuck
Check out my website on mods to air cleaner. I ran the K&N for 6000 miles thru the Rockies with no problems. Just inside the the pipe between filter and turbo the pipe is clean as a whistle. My Blackstone came back OK. Click here.
i guess with these new 6.7 you gonna have to change more frequent compared to the 5.9. i just went with your set up this weekend today with the delete instead of 5in and your air box mod usuing the afe drop in cone filter...sounds good from turbo the exhaust is just a little deeper not much louder, and the throttle response is killer....only prob i had was getting the factory tail pipe back up nice and high, its sagging 3-4 inches lower now....will probally mess with it tomorrow loosen it all up and try to relign it again....
