I Remember reading about the killer dowel pin in Diesel Power magazine awhile back(before I purchased my truck) but didn't pay much attention. Now I cant find the article and think I should probably get this taken care of asap. was wondering what needs to be done to solve this potential problem. why has there not been a recall?
Thanks Thanks for the info. That link seemed to be more straight forward than the DP article. Doesn't seem like too tough of a project.
I'm betting that you've fixed this already. But here's another idea for those who search this out in the future.... http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/Dowel_Pin/bolt.htm DH EDIT: After more research, I've found that it's getting harder and harder to find the jig needed to use this fix.....
Tab it!! $1 tab from Cummins NW, small tube of lock-tite, front seal and a little Ultra Black RTV. Piece of cake and it works every time. Dave
any problems with the kdp were taken care of under warranty by Cummins , that is except Dodge , Dodge buys all their engines without warranty by Cummins and Dodge supplies the warranty.
heres visuals too. the dowel is between the cam gear and injection pump gear. as you can see mine was an 1/8" out.
