Lets talk altenators...

    I live in Modesto California
    So I read somewhere that there was two altenators available with the Cummins diesel in early 2000's. A 106 amper and 136 amper. How do I tell which one I have? I sure hope it's the 136 amper. :popcorn:

    Ummm, I know my truck came with a pair of 130s, but it's a Ford so that doesn't help you. :doah:

    According to the specs on mine at time of order it was a 136 AMP alt. - sorry I have no idea how to tell the difference.

    I looked itup in the parts calalog, found that DC lists the same alt from '99 to 02 diesels. All are rated at 136 amp. The voltage regulator is located in the computer and not the alt.
