So im thinking about lifting the 2500 a little bit. Ive seen a bunch of lifts for the 3/4 tons but for 6 lug only. What else besides a body lift and cranking the t/b could i do. Im not looking for a huge lift hoping some company had a smally 2-3 in lift. Either that or possibly finding a way to change the suspension to get one of the 6 lug lifts to work....Any ideas will help, thanks
Ok there is good news for you. I use to own one so I know of a few lifts out there. the two that comes to mind is either pro-comp or rancho. There are many others that offer different size lifts. A source you can use if you are looking for the whole complete wheel and suspension kit is the 4wheel and off road mag. They have many adds for your truck. If you have any questions please get back to me. I will try to offer more help if you need it. by the way I owned a 92 chevy 3/4ton HD with 454, 5spd, extended cab, 4x4 and long bed, great truck for everything but mpg. any way I hope this info will help. I have more info if you need it.
Tuff Country makes a lift for our trucks, and seems to me to be one of the best values on the market. Check with www.offroaddesign.com for their holiday specials on IFS lifts.
Here's another idea for you. Go to 4wheelparts.com. They have a good size listing of lift kits, wheel and tire kits, and lots of other goodies too.
If all you want is 2-3" you could go with a lift key. I personally don't like these because I feel they put too much preload on the torsion bars. If you want a true lift kit, I would look into a Fabtech lift. They are a little more expensive than a Tuff Country, but the quality of the components in a Fabtech lift are much higher than Tuff Country. I always had problems getting the subframe of a TC lift to fit into the truck where as the FT is a 4 piece unit that bolts together and is quite stout!! You will also have to modify your exhaust for one of these lifts.
got my 4/6" ProComp from http://4wheelparts.com/4wp/index.asp needs a little trimming for 35" but looks pretty good and rides like stock. no problems yet and have had it on for over 6 months now.
Any pics? How much lift over stock did you get? Where did you have to trim? I just ordered a 4" Tuff Country lift for my 97 today. I want to fit my 35's without destroying the fenders.
had to trim the back of the fender by the door ... here are a few pics for ya with wheel turned about 3/4 of the way would of rubbed before ... beat the fender with a mallet and cut the flare with sawzall(sp?) .... my t-bars are turned a little bit .. but only lifted the front end probably 1/4 inch hope this helps ya out
oh yeah .. how about that quality? my cellphone at its best LOL on a serious note though .. the bottom of my door sits at 29" depending on where i stand in my drive way ..
Looks good for a cellphone. All I see are red X's, but I copied and pasted the URL from proerties in a new window and they worked. By 4"/6" I assume you mean 6" front, 4" rear? I am guessing I will be doing more trimming with a 4" lift. I am still trying to figure out how some guys get away with 315's with a 1/2 ton, and just keys. Thanks for the pictures.
Its all about the rim selection. I had a 36" tall TSL on my K5 with only 2" of lift and zero fender trimming, pic the right wheel and things fit alot better.
Absolutely. I am using my chrome H2's, and they have more backspace then the 6.5" OEM steel wheels, so I am not too worried. There are guys out there with stock 1500's like I said above with stock wheels and 315's, and I am sure you have seen over at the 'Place, many Duramax trucks with H2's and 315's with no lift at all.
the classics are 5" back space .. and just the outside rubs when i turn most of the way / completely also, tomorrow morning, i will snap a picture of my truck behind/beside my parents stock 03 to show you the difference
