Is there any way to turn up the line pressure in a stock transmission?

Sounds like you are dealing with the same problems I am. There is no way to externally turn up the line pressure by any kind knob or lever, only a valve body modification can really bump up the pressure. There is the BD pressurelock device, which would work to keep the trans almost always thinking you are at 3/4-WOT when you are actually at 1/4throttle. The shift kits and stuff that you get really isn't good enough IMHO, because that is what I basically have. They do provide enough line pressure at WOT, but not enough at 1/2 throttle. I can shudder my converter hard at half throttle with the juice on 3-4 but can't at WOT.

I've just decided, forget messing with pressure locks and what not, I'm going with a Suncoast VB and triple disk. I've learned that the big name valve bodies are much more than a simple "valve body modification you can get at a local shop." They enlarge a bunch of the oil passages and custom tune it for exactly what you are doing. I want to be just done with it with no worries.

The BD pressure lock is a great product for mildly modified engines, however, won't yield a higher than stock pressure level. The whole point of it is as Bob said, at increased power you use less throttle to do the same amount of work. Line pressure is regulated by throttle position. So, it is a band aid for mildly modified diesels and really not going to help alot if you make a bunch of power.
    Hope this helps.

    BD Pressure Loc

Nice to see everyone is educated on the BD products waytogo

Like mentioned above the BD Pressure Loc works great up to to about 400-450HP, after that you should have upgraded clutches in your T/C. If you are over that 450HP range the stator inside the stock convertor is so inefficient that you really should be running a low stall convertor anyway. Most quality convertors, BD or the Triple Loc should be good to at least 1000 ft/lbs, we are unable to slip our loc-up clutch at 1200 ft/lbs which is as high as our tranny dyno goes.

    My two cents...

so that pressure lock thing only really helps when the clutch is locked (when the truck is in overdrive) right?

    Pressure Loc

The Pressure Loc only helps any time the truck is in loc up, so on the 2nd and 3rd generation trucks it will help in drive and O/D. The 03-04.5 3rd generation Dodge it helps in 2nd, 3rd, drive and O/D.

I notice you have an 05 Dodge, they went to an electronic servo set up on those and we do not have a Pressure Loc for them...
