longbed. so it turns like a bus, big deal, i can squeeze it into spots, or i can park in a more open spot. plus i know how to manuever longer cheivles, so i can makea CC long bed go anywhere i want.
yeah Long bed for me too. I figure if I am spending money on a big powerfull truck it had better be able to haul anything I need it too. It would suck to have a brand new $45k truck and have to pull out the $1500 1/2 ton Long bed to haul anything that is of decent size. I feel the same way about 2wd diesel trucks. If you have a $45k truck that has 600hp and 1000ft-lbs of torque and it gets stuck when the road turns icy or soft than you are wasting your money
I like the longbeds too... I think the whole big cab little bed thing looks goofy as all get out. Can't see any use at all in having a 4 or 5' bed on a truck. That's why I like my burb... I can still fit most anything I need, including plywood sheets.
i prefer the 2wd and i live in the area that gets snow. 2wd keeps me from Fing with the suspension, and a stock suspension makes the truck a much better hauler, as all mine i sused for is towing a large load, 9-15k. so i get stuck sometimes, big deal....80% of diesels are only rear wheel drive anyways, and they usually dont have to much of a problem except when they venture into soft contractor areas, as i have made big $$ winching them out in the 2wd wrecker with a air locker.
I prefer a long bed also. Just more versatile, plus with most toolboxes in a short bed there's just not much room left over for hauling anything.
More room for hauling or tool boxes and the longer wheel base also helps with towing. I went to pick up a glass door the other week and a woman asks me is your truck long enought?I just laughed and replied until Ford comes out with a larger crew cab or longer bed women like men with longer...bedsimp:
Most likely the answer on this site will be long. Most everyone on here is either towing or hauling. A short bed to me is more sporty anyway. Just my $.02.gp
I like my Shortbed. I have a 18ft trailer for anything really long. Plus I have a couple longbed trucks I could use too
Every truck I use is a 'longbed'. Technically the only longbed truck I have is a F250 that's mainly used for hauling your normal stuff in the back (wood, construction supplies, etc..). The other trucks are either dumptrucks or a flatbed with crane and liftgate for setting monuments. I don't own a vehicle that doesn't have some kind of utility in the business. Even my K5 is the dedicated recovery vehicle when one of the 2wd trucks gets stuck in the cemetery.waytogo
Ive got a short box, retired so dont haul much, plus 4x2, mine is a quad cab, i tow a 28 foot trailer. had a long box quad cab diesel before and let me tell ya this new one turns on a dime compared to my old one, i also live 3 hours below Alaska and the 2 wheel drive with studded snow tires is like a tank no problems at all, and i used my $8 grand qaud to beat the bush not my $45 grand truck, think i will stick with my Cummin`s
Short bed. Personal preference for a combo of reasons - maneuverability, 4 wheeling ability to fit easier in places, and I figured I wouldn't need an 8' bed very often. In 18 months of owning, I haven't needed it. Plus I prefer the looks of the short bed. rotfl
if its a crew cab i prefer a short box to make around town runs eaiser. if its a standard cab i prefer long bed to keep wheel base at a good length. in my case the dodge quad cab is the same length crew cab short box as standard cab long box. i haul a goose neck and my tool box takes the rest up. bed size doesnt matter. i dont need a long bed and love my short bed. Grant
Longbed of course, 3 reasons. 1) The longer the wheel base, the easier the tow, stability wise. 2)Put more stuff back there and finally 3)looks better imo
I got a longbed and I am SOOO glad I did. Nice putting sheets of plywood/sheetrock in the back and still able to close the tailgatewaytogo 8 footer is a must in my bookimp:
Since I tow a 5th wheel, I went with a long bed (no other choice with a 2nd gen dually anyway) for adequate cab-to-trailer clearance without using a sliding hitch. Rusty
I like the longbeds as well because of the looks and because you can still use it with hardly any problems once you put one of those big diamond plate toolboxes in the bed.
4x8 sheets of plywood come 4x 8' , one can sleep in 8' a lot better than 6'. Industry size, I.E. camper shells etc 6', I think not. 6' is useless imp: waytogo. How often do the Cadies SUV, utilizes that 2 foot bed of there'srotfl cant even put a mountain bike back there.
As already stated, so many different types of building materials come in 4x8' sheets. They fit perfectly in a long bed. I can't even count how many times the extra foot and a half ( I think it's 1.5' longer?) has made the difference of loading something easier. Load it in and shut the tail gate, no materials hanging out the back. I can go either way in the looks department, the short bed looks nice but I think the long bed looks better with a big trailer hooked up to it, where the short bed truck looks too short.
