I was thinking of getting a Deep Transmission Pan from Summit or somewhere, but I don't know what auto trans is mine in the 92 with OD. Any help with this out there? Do I really need a Deep pan when it already holds 11 quarts? Should I go with Synthetic and what should I use in the rear diff that has worked well for ya'll?

You can use a pan designed for a 727, it's the same pan & most of the internals too. Yours is the A518, which is just a 727 with an overdrive unit added. A deep pan can help a little, but not as much as a supplemental cooler. I use synthetic everywhere I can, even down to the power steering fluid.

Yeah, 518. What I have been told is the big double deep aluminum pans help add rigidity to the trans cases. This is nice for high HP trucks. I think if you are in warm weather a lot, and/or tow often, then it would be benificial. One thing is to try and find out what your current temps are. I have a stock pan and cooling system, mine runs around 150-170 in town and 140ish on the highway.

I run Amsoil synthetic products from bumper to bumper in my truck. I change my motor oil once a year, trans will get half it's fluid changed once a year, and my diffs/tcase are good for about 5 years.

My mileage has gone up 2mpg's on the highway since I bought the truck. I have an Edge Juice, big exhaust, a built trans, and all synthetic. I would say the synthetic change is responsible for at least 1mpg gain.

I run and sell Amsoil because I think it's the best on the market. They make more types of oil for all kinds of applications than any other synthetic manufacturer and have been around the longest.

yeah, I've been thinking of getting all of the fluids replaced before my first big haul to Moab. Maybe I'll have to do that now! How often are you guys changing fuel filters and draining your water/fuel collector?

every 15k. And keep an extra fuel filter in the truck always just in case you get a bad batch of fuel. believe it or not it does happen.

    BD Pans

Our BD Pans fit from 88 to 06, they are black powder coated, finned aluminum with a magnetic drain plug and pre tapped for a trans temp gauge. They also sport a silver BD logo on the side that sticks out nicely against the black powder coating.

HAave you looked at B&M for a trans pan?I'm going to get a deep sump pan for my Bronco and SD and of course you would want to use all synthetic fluids in your tow rig I run a 75w140 in my SD but might go lighter next time I have heard that I could better boster my fuel economy but using a lighter weight well see.I second the Amsoil I got hooked on synthetic selling and seeing how vehicles aged on conventional, synthetic blends and fully synthetic oil and other services at a quick lube and now I have switched from Valvoline to Amsoil all my vehicles will be running it soon.

The Mag Hytec 727-DD fits your truck. They have a regular dpth one too. the extra 4 quarts never hurts, even more so since you don't have a lock up converter so your transmission is always slipping and producing heat.
I have had a lot of good luck with Amsoil in my trucks. The ATF is very resistant to heat!
