I have my eye a new Carson trailer. It is rated at 7K and is 18' with a dovetail in the rear. It has trailer brakes with tandum axles of course. I talked to the owner and he said it would be about $2,200 out the door with a brake controller, wiring, and tax.

This will be primarily for towing my K5 rock crawler and some quads, should I go for it?

with a K5 i would go for a 10k trailer as extra cushion. your blazer weighs about 5500lbs if not more and the trailer weight with the blazer weight, not counting "extra" gear you are pushing the legal limits. is it safe? yeah, at slower speeds and shorter distances. also what kind of tires come on the trailer? a lot of the 5 lug 7k axled trailers i see out there are on ford tires and rims... try to find something with an actual trailer tire on it and you will be a lot happier in just that alone on how it tows....

that's not too bad of a deal... I picked up mine a year ago for $1800, after tt&l $2320. No brake controller. similarly equipped, with trailer tires and rims (although 5 lug, that sucks). mine's 18+2 for a total 20'. I've had it loaded at least 2k over weight and it's done fine even though it wasn't the best idea I ever had.
