Ive got a 95 Dodge cummins, love the engine and like the truck. The 95 is only a regular cab so I was gonna look for a 01 or 02 extended cab H.O. 6 speed. I need more room. Well, a buddy of mine has a 02 Duramax 4 door for sale. Has 200,000 miles less than what I have, and only wants $18,000. Looks like Im gonna be a Duramax Man now. Happy but at the same time sad to see the mighty Cummins go. What do you guys think?
Thats a great truck your getting. The injectors have like a 200k mile warranty IIRC. The D-max scoots too burnout
Sounds like a good deal. At least you know who drove the vehicle before you buy it. It's always kind of scary buying a used vehicle, you never know what the PO did with it.
As an '02 owner, I think you'll like it as long as you are not one of those unfortunate soles who seem plagued by injector problems. Very rare in the '02 from what I know. And mine has been absolutely trouble free, and I flog it a fair bit towing or empty...
Well, I'd still look for an '01-02 Cummins H.O. 6 spd. We just went on a 2,000 mile trip pulling a 27' enclosed sled trailer through the Sierras, Nevada desert, Idaho rolling hills, and Montana snow and ice. Never dropped below 70mph with the cruise on and got about 13mpg with my dad's '02 3500 H.O. 4x4. The only mods are EDM 65HP injectors, exhaust brake, and Green air filter. A brand new LBZ dmax with a similar sled trailer couldn't outrun us in even the longest and steepest grades. Thats what I think but if I was going to buy a Dmax I'd get an '02, I love that front clip because it doesn't look like an angry chinaman. Great trans and a nice interior.
My truck is for sale. I dont have any pics but I can if your are interested. I just had the tranny rebuilt 1500 miles ago, and it has a brand new clutch. Im asking for about $7500.
I have always been a big fan of the Cummins, "Ididn't buy a Dodge I bought a Cummins" but that Duramax is building big power now! That TST box builds big power but you have to watch the EGT's it runs really hot, upgrade the turbo(s) if you want to get the full potential out of the TST box.
