Been doing some reading and supposedly the Catcher is a great reprograming, but it's done in Italy so you have to ship your ECM. :doah: Is the MAD ECM the same thing? How do these two ECM upgrades compare to an Edge EZ? Will a Comp box blow them away? Whats the scoop on this stuff?
First off, I am saying only what I know as a reader of the boards on both TDR and NWBombers (another great site by the way). It IS programmed out of the country but there's a vendor up in Auburn, WA that does tradeouts (he has a few cores he rotates through) so your downtime could be none. A few guys are running the Comp with the Mad/Catcher (same thing) but you have to let Marco know beforehand so he makes the programming 'timing neutral' (so it does not overdo the timing and thereby melt your engine down :doah: ). It is comparable to an EZ but gives better drivability (which is where it's at unless you're a drag racer) while the dyno results showed pretty much the same overall HP and torque gains as an EZ. Remember this too - the Catcher does not require you to tap the pump wire (since you're over 100K miles likely doesn't matter in your case, in mine it would with my rig only having 45K). Many believe tapping the pump wire reduces the life of the VP44 (not fact, just conjecture). All of this may be moot as long as you keep fuel pressure adequate (with gauges as the watchdog).
