Couple of items I thought I'd pass on -

    1. Monthly check of your boost boots - they use a 7/16" socket/wrench - tighten them ALL regardless of how hard they are to get at. We know the Cummins creates a lot of vibration and they DO tend to loosen. Just since last month I found one actually loosened enough to walk it's way almost 3/8" off. If memory serves me there are a total of 9, including the one at the bottom of the turbo housing. Same for the air cleaner clamps.
    2. Fuel pressure - if you don't have gauges - get at least a fuel pressure gauge. Monthly I put a hand held gauge on the shrader valve coming off the VP-44 (injection pump) and check my idle pressure and if it is dropping at all during quick revs and sustained 1500 rpm runs. The lift pump on these 2nd gens are known to be weak so keep an eye on this and you may/will save a $1000 VP-44.
    3. General bolt check under the hood - I check all I can - exhaust manifold bolts on early 2001 and newer can and will loosen. My father in law's early 2001 truck had three finger tight recently. The later ones (like mine) have a stamped steel locking feature that prevents the top ones from loosening but the lower ones are still susceptible.

I'll add more as I remember them.
