So Christophers Dodge World up here in Golden Colorado has about 150 06 diesels for sale with employee pricing. I can get about $9k off of MSRP on one. So I was wondering what kind of problems that you guys have had with your trucks. I am curious about EVERYTHING from drivetrain to carpet wear to squeeks and rattles and everything in between. Thanks!!
So far the only problem I have had is getting below 12.5 in the 1/4 mile. rotfl Great trucks! waytogo
no problems here... starter did not work once, a simple "flash" of the cpu at the dealer and it was good... they towed it and brought me a truck w/ a gooseneck as a loaner... daimler chrysler customer service rocks... just buy everything you want as far as options go, you want regret it...
The cloth seats stain real easy, plan on a leather kit when it gets real bad, other than that great trucks.
like i said the other day on the phone the only significant problem i have had is the death wobble thing but that was my own dumb fault haha... that and my check engine light turned on one time but it went off in like 3 days. honestly after 40k miles i have no regrets whatsoever about the truck. it's solid, looks cool, has tons of power, and get decent mileage all at the same time.
Thanks for the replys!! I drove a 6-speed today and really liked it. It seemed as though it was running high RPMs on the highway like 2500-2600 at 80mph in 6th. What do you guys with autos run. The truck has 3.73s. Also what is the milage differance between the 2 trannys?? Thanks!!
It's too bad 3.73 is the highest that is available, as the older 3.54's would help bring down the RPM's some. Mileage varies, it's mostly a toss up between which trans delivers the best efficiency. These newer autos with lock up converters are a lot more efficient than they used to be. I have a 2nd gen, so some of my minor issues don't count much, but many parts are still the same on the 3rd gens. I just had my A/C pump replaced yesterday, which is the same pump as a 3rd IIRC. Dealership couldn't figure out why the freeon leaks out every month, this went on for two summers. Finally I mentioned them removing the clutch and looking at the front seal on the pump, bingo. Stuff like that though varies from one truck to the next, while my A/C pump failed at 100ishK, my dad's still goes strong with no leaks, and cold like it's still new and has 109K on the ticker. I lost my auto at 116K, but there again, it wasn't necessarely common problem or even the trans fault. I blame it on the PO, as the oil was black in the trans when I bought the truck at 101K. When I changed the oil it wiped out the seals and clutches. I lost a lift pump. (it's a 2nd gen thing, a new 3rd gen doesn't have the same problems) Thats about it.... BTW, I thought a Dmax was GOING to be your next truck? You seemed to really be digging those LBZs when we talked last.
I have an 06 with the 6 spd. I put 33's on and now I spin 1900 at 60mph with 3.73's. Im still getting 20mpg but then I am pretty light on the throttle. I had a second generation 02 before this one and never one problem with it but I didnt quite put 80k on it so there wasnt time for anything major to go wrong. Im pretty happy with the 06 and I bet you would be to.
if i would have gotten a 6spd, i would for sure look into the gear vendor thing... that would prolly help your freeway mileage (especially if you put the 35's on there)
I got an 06 regular cab long bed, with a stick and 4 wheel drive. I drive this truck like I stole it, and it runs GREAT. Lots and lots of power, bone stock it dynoed 275/505. I am definately glad I got this of over a duramax. I get in the low 20's when driving about 65 on the interstates. As far as towing goes I only use my truck to haul ass. Cons: Water stains the seats. Second is next to reverse. Granted it is probally a rare problem but I almost backed into somebody at a light. Got a check engine light at 5K (fuel rail pressure sensor) , got the reflash and all is well.
