hey guys, i have a 2003 f-250 extended cab longbed on a 4" lift with 35"s. i want more performance out it, and i dont just want to put a chip, intake, and exhaust. i want something that will run with a chipped cummins or upgraded turboed cummins, i love cummins my father has a chipped cummins and i want to sell my truck to buy a cummins but the thing is anytime you see a fast diesel its a duramax or cummins, i would love to have a d.d high 12 sec powerstroke!! but my question is how do i make a low 13 sec or high 12sec 7.3 powerstroke? i know you can build a cummins to run those times without tearing the motor apart is this possible on a powerstroke?? what about a trubo setup?? do you need twins to run those times or could you do it with an upgraded turbo/intercooler setup and water/meth and some nitrous??
ya im honestly a cummins man but i would love to see a powerstroke beat a cummins, im just wondeing if it can be done with just and upgradd turbo/intercooler kit, some water/meth and maybe some nitrous?
all that air wont do anything unless you can get enough fuel out of those injectors, which you cant so i would upgrade injectors first.
ya i forgot to mention injectors lol but i have heard that it might be iffy for that 7.3 to handle all those upgrades?? without touching the internals. is that true? i know my buddy had a bd twin kit,water/meth and a lil shot of nitrous of his stock internals cummins and has no problems, is this possible with a 7.3? especially one being a d.d.
well,if you had an older model like mine it would be fine, because they put forged steel rods in the obs,and the newer ones have powder coated metal rods, but i think they would be fine up to 400hp or so.but you will want to do more research on that.check out superdutydiesel.com.im a member there and there is alot more people on it and you get quick responses and they know everything about these trucks, thats were ive been learning.
way back when there was a 2001 powerstroke with a 6 inch lift and 37's that ran 11 sec quarter mile. so its very possible. it will need some work, and yes its worth it. i dont think you can do twins on a powerstroke, but you dont have to. you can get a beefy enough single turbo, with some nice injectors, and maybe a little nitrous. and definately a bad trans. your probly goin to have to do some internals to. theres lots of good performance diesel shops around. they can help you. diesel nut can help im sure.
you should be happy with your trucks speed.my truck has a 5 speed.now my truck is slow, ive got semi's takin me off the line,my truck is slow but,it will pull hell off its hinges!!imp:
