Just ordered a 4" magnaflow and an intake is next on the list. Can't choose between the s&b or the icebox. After that would be a programmer and then a trans (48re). Need a lot of room to grow into the programmer so i am kinda leening toward the tst. Looking for around 700 hp at the wheels in the long run with no anesthesia or bbq pits.
First off, what year truck? Second, you need to plan out your build a little more. Se, if you want to actually have 700hp att he tires, but still drive daily and or tow, you are going to have to play with twins. They give the best drivability. Now, the BD twind come with their own intake, so you would wind up selling the one you are about to buy. Now you see why I say plan ahead. Lets talk a little more about the truck specifically, how you intend to use it, and your time frame. then we can better point you in the right direction. Both the intake you listed are top notch, just hate to see you buy something just to throw it in the classifieds in a few months.
not really in a hurry just looking to have a killer daily. it is an 05 2500 4x4 laramie. just removed the baffles and silencer ring today.
Yeah don't buy an intake because you will end up selling it when you get the twins... Also, if you really want to make that kind of power, I would save up for injectors and a FASS for fuel before you buy the chip; I would rather have all the performance hardware before I got the software. And put $ into your transmission before it breaks, because it will break with that kind of power.
if i get the tst will go with the package that includes the fass. yeah i know abouth the tranny just can't decide if i will build it or buy it allready built. maybe suncoast, hts, or gorend. for the injectors looking at maybe dynomite. dont know what hp though. for the TWINS trying to research the bd or industrial injection. dont know from experience but heard that i might want to lean away from ats. just going to keep my options open and do a lot of research. i want a very streetable 700 at the tire. at this hp level what if any upgrades do i need to make to the transfer case. o by the way i believe the rear is 373.
I would assume that if you want 700hp you will want a full race transmission; better to have more strength then you need than to have to replace the thing twice. If it were me, I would just put out the money and buy a full replacement transmission... Jason (DieselNut) will be able to tell you which brand would be best as well as get you the best deal on the parts. I think BD would be the best option for the twins... they will handle all the fuel you are planning on feeding the motor. I don't know much about injectors but I am assuming that they are all pretty comparable; meaning I'm pretty sure they all just flow a butt-load more fuel. For the transfer case (as well as transmission and diff's) it would probably be smart to switch to full synthetic lubricants. With that kind of power, there will be a lot of stress on the entire drivetrain so I would say it would be worth it to get the best lubricants available. Just as an overall principle, I would say that it is better to just put out more money up front and get all the best parts as opposed to buying cheap parts and having to replace them later on. Just my $0.02
