My 2003 F350 7.3PS has around 130,000 miles it has plowed every winter (hard) since it was new and I use it to move construction equipment and supplies daily. I have recently had trouble getting it into gear and I am starting to slip in second gear. I am thinking about changing out the transmission before it dies on me. Does anyone have any opinion on whether the stock Ford transmission or an aftermarket transmission would be best? Has anyone had good luck with High Performance transmissions? Thanks, Mike
dude, a stock tranny ain't gonna cut it with your mods. I checked around at the most reputable diesel companies and i found that ats (atsdiesel.com) has a 4r-100 (2wd or 4wd) for $2,271 plus while you're @ it go ahead and get a deep sump oil pan $300 waytogo
No offense, but you can't pay me enough to use an ATS. NADP offers a great rebuit unit with better clutches and VB upgrades, as well as the dual load center bearing kit. So does Suncoast. As much or less than ATS and much less headache. The NADP can be had for a VERY reasonable rate. However, MikeVGVC is correct, the stock unit is sub par for anything heavy duty, and typically a stock rebuilt unit is the most expensive (from the dealer). now what kind of sense does that make?:doah:
