I have never posted here before but have been a member for a while. I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 5.9l 24v Cummins 6spd. Here recently I have noticed that my truck is kind of sluggish and that my turbo is making more of a rattling noise than a consistent whistling noise. I made the misatke of running off road diesel once and I was wanting to know if this was the problem or not and what is the solution. Please help thanks in advance.

Check your fuel filter. Might have got some junk run through it. Drain your filter bowl down and pull the filter and see what it looks like. Miles on truck?

Welcome to the group. Good first post, now lets get that signature filled out. That way everyone knows what you have.

The offroad fuel made no difference since it's exactly the same fuel with red dye in it, infact you said "once" and it's only recently that the red dye has been added to tax exempt fuel.

However, the quality of the tank the fuel came out of and the filtering (if any) between the tank and the truck may leave a lot of questions. If yu have a power related problem the first and easiest step it to check the fuel filter, then on from there.

Most farm fuel tank setups filter the fuel as it leaves the mother tank. It's fairly standard to have a filtering setup on your mother tank, the question is if it had been changed like it's supposed to. I change mine once a year, which is about right.

The turbo rattlign won't be a fuel filter... Are you sure it is not an injector knocke? They make a rattle type noise but you can hear it at idle usually. Make sure to check your oil and smell it for diesel. Injectors are a notorious problem on the HO trucks in 3rd gens. Many a person has had one burn a hole through a piston. Also pull your intake hose off and check your turbo, make sure the blades look good and theres no excessive play.

Might want to try a fuel cleaner to try to get an crud you may have in the injectors
