Okay folks, it is up to you to tell me if I should trade off my 06 for a new 08 or not. The reason for the thoughts is that I will be trying to get rid of my 05 Ford Escape and the 06 Dodge, 4x4, dually, to reduce my payments. I don't need the Ford and just bought an 08 Dodge 1500, Hemi for the wife. Love the new truck just not the fuel mileage. If I buy a new dually it will be the Mega-cab, and 4x4 of course. Just some thoughts, is the new 6.7 as good as the 5.9? What about the new automatic tranny? Good or bad? If not then what will I need to address? I know that the DPF has been giving some folks problems. Does anybody know of any aftermarket parts available to modify the truck to make more horsepower? If so then what do ya'll recomend?

Thanks in advance for your help,
    LT.

If mods are important to you I would stick with the 5.9L for now. You are right that the DPF's are giving people some grief.

A lot of manufactures are sitting on the fence with the emission standards on the horizon so after market products will not be as abundant as the currently are for the 5.9L. Nice rig if you like em stock, the transmission is definitly an improvement and seem pretty stout, time will tell!

    My 2 cents

Seems nobody is trusting the new diesels but the track records that they have now arent to impressive either.

I would keep the 2006... unless you don't want to mod. your truck and like higher payments haha. Get rid of the Ford and keep the hemi and the 2006 cummins is my vote.

So, everyone is all for keeping the 5.9. Does anybody want to buy an 05 Ford Escape? No? I did not think so. This is my problem. I need to get rid of it and nobody wants it. This is why I am starting to think that this may be the best option. Trade both in on one 08 Mega-cab. See I spend $940.00 a month in payments and I have to fully insure both vehicles. If I trade them in I will not only reduce my payments but I will only be insuring one vehicle. This is my hang up on keeping the 5.9. Not too sure what to do.

Even if you don't sell it for much I think it will still be lest costly to own a 2006 Dodge than a 2008 Dodge.

It's a no brainer, stick with the 5.9. Maybe donate your ford to charity at retail price and use it for a tax write off ?
