new here

    new here but been looking and searching. so got to ask??
    i drive a 1989 f350 4x4 crue cab. i pull a 26' prowler sport utility trailer.
    sometimes i have to go out into the sand. is the stock gears of 3.55 ok for this. going up steep hills, mostof the time im in 2 gear. ty

    thanks for the help j . any one is the 3.55 gears ok for towing

    From what you told me on the phone it sounds like a gearing issue. Thinking about the age of the truck, the cost of the gear swap (front and rear) and the air bags, it might make more sense to sell this truck and step up to a newer truck with a diesel engine. Sell your truck outright, don't trade it in. Jamie won't give you much for it.

    Nah keep it and just swap the gears and add some lockers front and rear.Yeah diesles are great but the older and newer gas engines are still good for towing.

    been some time now just for the fun of it, a update just got done putting on a 3" exaust pipe headers back. and a cold air intake k&n.
    befor all this with pulling just my flat bad 12 footer 3 atv on it,it would not pull 5 gear. now no prb pulling 5 gear no lost of speed at all, that was a big help, just on doing the air and pipe.

    I plan on doing a chip and exhaust once I'm out of warranty of course I just hit 27K today so only 9K less to go.
