Hi all, I just bought a SLT Lariat 2000 with 190K miles yesterday, and auto tranny. I paid $9350, does that sound like a fair deal?
I replied in the "blow-by column", glad to find that out.

The motor starts right up and runs strong, and the tranny seems quite tight too. The "check engine" light stays on all the time though, I suppose that isn't good. The guy told me it was a $50 sensor that is in the turbocharger. Has anyone ever heard of that?

I have the leather seats with heat warmers. The drivers seat button doesn't seem to work, it just blinks on the high mode, then goes away, and I don't think it's heating the seat. The passanger seat stays lit on low, high, and then turns off, so I'm assuming that it works. but I haven't sat on it to see. Anyone have any thoughts on that one?

The "joysticK" for the stereo seems to power up the front door speakers intermittantly, and now, they don't work. Does this sound like the stereo is beginning to fail? It's the fancy one with extra controls on the steering wheel. Actually surprised to find this option, as none of us knew it was there until we got home, and the wife asked what those buttons were for. When the speakers are working (not too often) the stereo kicks butt.

Motor is REAL dirty, thanks to the "PUKE" bottle blow-by problem. I'll fix that, but then I want to wash the motor. Any issues I need to watch out for before I hit it with the hot water washer?? Should I soak it down with "GUNK" first?

I also bought a Lance Squire 8.5 cabover camper too. Do you think I should get some air springs for extra support??

Well, I'm ral happy to have found this site and we'll see ya soon!

Excuse the quote, but I could not remember all you asked otherwise.

Sounds like the price is about right for retail. My truck sounds to be very close to want you have with the exception of the Transmission.

I have not had a problem with the check engine light. Last time it came on was for a MAP sensor. I have 161,000 on mine. I would check it out. If your gauges start moving back and forth its a Crankshaft Position sensor.
The MAP sensor caused mine to stumble a lot.

The seat heaters may just be dust in the connections either under the seat or at the switch. I have not had any problems with mine yet. I use them when I drive for more than 8 hrs, even with the AC running. I have never been stiff in the lower back driving this truck in those seats. I made a trip to Gilroy CA and back to Melbourne, Florida and never had a seat problem.

The joy stick used to adjust the speakers may also be dust related. I would move it around alot with the radio off and see if it gets better. Its hard to use with the truck moving as its very sensitive. Its a real good sound system like you said and gets better as you turn the volume up.
The steering wheel mounted controls are really good. Can you adjust the volume using the steering wheel controls? or the radio volume control? Since you said the speakers work sometimes, I still think its dust or dirt. Sometimes my home stereo speakers will pop or cut out. Everytime is dust
where the wires go into those clips.

I don't know if there is a manual for that radio or not.

The puke bottle is a mess. As is the radiator which most likely is clogged up either side of the fan. Don't clean the engine when its hot. Rapid cool down could cause a leak or crack in some of the materials. Watch out for your computer box and fuse holders under the hood.

Can't help you with the Lance Camper.

Get you fuel pressure checked and install a good fuel pressure gauge.
Use an additive in the fuel. I use Power Service additive from WalMart mixed with oil. 8oz per fill up. I have had very little problems with the LP and no problems with the VP44. I've on replaced one LP at 95,000 miles.

You can check for any codes by cycling the key three times. Turn the key to the run position, then off, 3x and the odometer window will display any codes. That should help you find out if something is wrong.

Yeah, check the codes. There are no sensors in the turbo. . . . .

The seat heater is probably a broken wire in the seat cusion. You will need to remove the lower cushion and the seat cover to expose the wire and solder it back together.

As forthe stereo, I would get an aftermarket one that works withthe steeringwheel remote. My buddy just ordered a nice Alpine one for about 200 bux.

As for the motor, get a gardern sprayer and about 2 gallons of castrol super clean. on a cold motor, use the garden sprayer to soak the motor down with the degreaser and let it set for a bit, then rinse off with a regular garden hose. Simple green works great too.
