I’m a new owner of a 2002 F-250 CC LB 4x4 7.3 AT. And I love it. I’ve had the truck for about 3 weeks now and I’ve already added, 4" exhaust turbo back, Intake, The standard three gauges (AT temp, EGT, and pyro) AIH delete Turbo timer Factory tech Valve body mag-hytec deep tranny pan and soon i need to install my wicked wheel and CCV mod. Now I believe that I’ve done the recommended pre-requisite mods for a chip, (any others that I should do?) so now its time to get a chip/tuner. I want something that is adjustable from in-cab, im looking at the 6 position ones from either bully dog, dieselsite, or the others. They all seem to be the same. Is this true? Anyone with experience or recommendations for one over the other. I know everyone will have their opinion but that’s what im looking for. BTW, the truck is used for mostly daily driving but I do tow a 9k trailer a couple times a month. thanks.
If you want the best programs in the business, look no further than www.dp-tuner.com I have never heard a single bad thing about this outfit, and they have some extreme programs that will make you think you are in a new truck. Hell, even the mild (50hp) settings wake the truck up like no other. It sounds like you have a great base with the intake, exhaust and gauges. The WW will be another good mod, and the CCV is good preventative maintenance. Jody Tipton at DP Tuner is a great guy, and will get you all set with everything you need.
The difference is in the programming. Several companies out there make their own programs for the PSDs. It is fairly widely agreed throughout PSD circles that the DP tuner programming is the best out there.
My recommendation is to avoid piggy back chips all to getter. Over the last two years they have really started to prove unrealiable and just don't give the end user many options other than shift on the fly. We were using bully dog programming and burning them in house to the toon of 3-5 per week. The comebacks were getting out of hand. I thought maybe it was our hardware and ordered a few from companies pre burned, same prob.
