In another forum there is discussion about putting the used lube oil into the fuel tank at various percentages-5-50%. Anybody tried this? Sure would be a good way to get rid of 10 qts of oil.
i have never tried it but i have seen guys dump a quart of a.t.f. in the tank every once in a while. they say the a.t.f. lubes the injectors but i don't know if its healthy or not. just puttin' my two cents worth in.
My understanding that ATF was not a good idea as it didn't burn too well. Any kind of engine oil, even 2 cycle is suppposed to be better.
ATF is the highest detergent oil in the automotive industry and alot of people believe that it cleans deposits from the fuel system. Thats why you hear alot of old timers filling the fuel filter with ATF when they perform a lube service.
I ran old oil through my 6.2 all the time, it was a great way to get rid of old oil, but i would not recomend doing it in a newer, less forgiving truck.
Been running filtered used engine oil for quite a while now. As long as you filter it it wont harm anything. Provides extra lube for the pump and injectors. I run mine through a paint filter before I dump it in and usually run about 30% waste oil. No brake fluid or syn oils just plain old dino oil. dan
