I'm browsing online truck-for-sale ads, and I've noticed something unusual. At least to me it is. When I go to lighttrucktrader.online and punch in any set of parameters for used late-model 3/4 ton trucks, it seems to me that nearly 90% of the ads are for Ford and almost none are for Dodge or Chevy. I'm curious. Anyone want to hazard a guess why more Ford owners would use that site to sell their trucks than the other owners? Or is it that more Fords are for sale, period, than the others. If that's the case, why? Aren't Fords as good as the others?
Ford has sold WAY more trucks each year than Dodge, GM or Chevy for many years. That would mean that it's likely the used truck market would have more Fords than anything else. There may be something else to it, but this definately plays a part in it.
I agree with what Shaggy is saying . Ford has sold more diesel trucks than anyone and they have massive fleet accounts in the industrial market so it is very likely that you will find more Fords than GM's or Dodge . Tom
Perhaps it is as Shaggy and TARussell say, or perhaps it is...ahem...something else? Just for the sake of argument, it could be - if there are not a large volume of "stripped" contractor trucks among the Fords - that people, for whatever reason, are dumping their Fords early at a higher rate than owners of the other brands... Just a thought, please don't take this as a brand-war thing.
That could be too, Ford's do seem to be a popular status symbol truck these days; with young dudes buying them just to look cool with a big truck. Typically those fellas get new vehicles every few years so that would cause an influx of trucks on the market too. Could also be a result of all the 03 and 04 6.0s that were dumped because of all the problems with them.
