We (the family) are thinking of expanding and upgrading/downgrading to an SUV. The downside to this option is the only thing out there capable of towing anything heavy is the suburban. They love those too much LOL price is way up there. So I started looking at other options to tow 10,000lbs and carry 6-8 passengers. This only leads me to a full size 3/4 ton van. I am not a ford guy but I like the price better than GM and they have the option of the v-10 or deisel which will both tow 10K. GM is limited to the 6.0 which gets craptacular gas mileage and tows decently as well. What do you all think? I am looking at roughly 30-35K for either one with alot of nice options. GIVE ME ANY AND ALL INPUTS PLEASE.

You can get a new GM van with a D-max. Its detuned just like the ford with the powerstroke, but still has plenty of power to tow whatever you need. They are expensive unfortunately, but i think you can find standard passenger vans for arround your price range. If you would consider used, you can find 6.5TD vans, but they aren't exactly common.

Not wanting to go with the used. I seen no options to add the duramax to the vans.

I think you might like to go with the v10 ford as its not a bad at the 6.0 but have you looked into excursions also you gain the option of four wheel drive? If I remmeber they do have 3rd row seating and with prices soaring again it wont be to long till someone is going to let one go for a great price.

You are correct about the vans. I was mistaken. Excursions is a great thought but cant do the used thing. Need the new car percent rates LOL

have you looked at a dealer that sells a lot of fleet vehicles? talk to a salesman at a dealership and see if they can order you a "work truck."

you can really get the price down if you give up all the comfy stuff, and it'll usually have upgrades to the drivetrain. our local chevy dealer has a whole back lot full of white trucks, from s-10s all the way up to 5-ton trucks including vans that are stripped down with any drivetrain combo you can imagine and ready for commercial use. a little bland, but really cheap rigs.
